Hey mate. I emailed a Ducati tech in Italy who was kind enough to reply. He confirmed for me that they recommend waiting until the first service. And I did have the regulator problem. A bad batch apparently and nothing to worry about. I did 2 in the first 3 days too!!!.. You’re in for a good time though buddy. An incredible bike. And, you might want to join “1098-forum”. Google it. 1098 owners around the world with advice/experience etc. A must for any 1098 owner. Good luck with it.

Mate, I picked up my 1098s last week and the dealer told me Ducati suggest waiting until it’s 1000km service. I hope you don’t have any voltage regulator problems, I did 2 in the first 3 days.

I own a K6 and a Ducati….love them both. If you want a superbike..those are the only two contenders. two different bikes….two different ways of riding them. Duc is stable as hell..gixxer is balanced and turns/steers quick. If you can combine the two, you’d have a perfect bike. If you can only have one..buy the Ducati everytime..if offers more than just performance. Pride of ownership and the sound is to die for. Oh yeah, you can pick up double the amount of women on the Duc also.

Hey dudes. Can anyone answer this for me? I’ve got a 1098 on order (3 freakin month wait) and I want termis for it. I’ve heard around the place that it’s not a good idea to put them on until after the first or even second service (1,000 – 2,500k). Is this true?

i agree with some of the comments, the duke just oozzzzes character, i ride an R1,but before it i had a white SP2, i loved it! so much character and stomp, broke my heart to get rid,and although the yam is an awesome machine it doesn’t stir the soul in the same way…mayby i’ll have to start saving for a 1098s…divorce!

I think current Moto GP results show that Ducati know a thing or 3 about bikes. Casey Stoner bike is uncatchable against the yammies or honda`s. Even with the genius Rossi at the helm. Oh, and how many WSB wins and championships have Ducati had with their 916,996,998 forebearer? Wait till the 1098 enters the race tracks! Last suzuki winner, besides AMA? Yeah, i`m struggling too!!
And i`m a aprilia man.. but results speak for themselves!

And you forgets that “your” Gsx has gained a world-wide Superbike, while the Ducati has a decennial history of victory and now is going strong in MotoGP… the Suzuki where is? And before s cpeaking, it thinks next to what you say and if you don’t like Ducati you can not to buy to them, you’re not obliged. But respect them pls

    For Gixxer:
The first test of Ducati 1098 has happened in a Spanish circuit to January. Ducati 1098 vs. Yamaha R1. The best times on the turn are of the Ducati. Can you explain to me why? Where were ended the 180 horses of the R1?
Moreover Ducati has reduced of 50% the maintenance costs.
    Who **** dude?
